Services

Design is muscular — it works hard, transforming a sketch, a wireframe, or a blank screen into a living, breathing experience that communicates powerfully and creatively, reaching out to your users so they can effortlessly get what they came for. My job is to bring your site, design, brand, and marketing to life; to attract and guide your users, to communicate your message, to infuse it with your identity, yet somehow be invisible, so your visitors are magically wowed without ever knowing how.

My work process for Websites

1 Always be Prepared

Arguably the most important phase of the process because what's decided here sets the stage for the entire project.

  • Site Requirements Analysis: Client Form
  • Project Charter
  • Mapping Site Hierarchy

*It is recommend that you choose a small team of up to two individuals to interact with me and make final decisions. "Design by committee" leads to below-average designs with above-average prices and delayed deadlines.

  • planning
  • wireframe
  • coding
  • launch
  • post-launch

Did I mention I design stuff? I’ve had plenty of fun creating a bunch of designs and websites for both worldwide clients and for myself as personal projects. Every project I undertake is a fresh challenge and I strive to constantly bring innovative ideas to my creative approach in order to broaden my artistic and technical expertise. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite projects so far.

About

Lorna Yarberry

Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Web Developer, Marketing

I call myself a Web Designer first and foremost, yet I have skills and passions in many areas of graphic design, marketing, print media, computing, internet, programming, design, and troubleshooting. Okay, I lied a little. I'm not passionate about troubleshooting but I seem to have a mind that's tuned to that sort of thing.

I began studying illustration and design in 2007 at Virginia Commonwealth University and started teaching myself web design in 2010. Since then, I have redesigned my current employer's entire website all on my lonesome (oh the joys of being the company's sole Graphic/Web Designer) and have been working as a freelancer on the side. In a nutshell, that means that I sit at my shiny computer all day long creating snazzy designs for cool folks from around the world. It's great!

As a web and graphic designer, I have the privilege of helping clients create unique and memorable experiences. I enjoy the entire creative process, having built up experience the last 6 years in visual design and front-end web development. I strive to communicate clear messages that call users to action. I want to create things that help others succeed.

Reviews

  • Josh Covington8/2/2013Marketing Manager, Velocity Micro, Inc.

Lorna has an impeccable eye for design and brand. Her work with Velocity Micro put those skills on display. She easily conquered tasks both big and small with the ability to and evaluate and execute tasks for our site on the micro level, as well as our entire marketing platform at the macro level. Even a gargantuan tasks like the complete redesign of our ecommerce site did not phase her.
